Update 2.51

Hello the update 2.51 is now available for download on the MrNews downloads section. Please unzip it as usual.

What’s New?

There has been some fixes for small problems that occurred in the minor upgrade 2.45.

  1. The need to double tab in the returns form has been removed.
  2. The “send keys” error message on the customer account screen has been removed.
  3. Sub-Agent deliveries screen – the third drop supply figures have now been restored.

New items - Customers

  • You now have the ability to search by invoice number in the “go to” field on the customer screen. The default selection is the customer account number i.e. search for 1845 will result in customer account No 1845, if no account 1845 exists it will find customer with invoice number 1845. The clash of account and invoice numbers will generally only be an issue with new databases as the invoice numbers will very quickly increase to numbers that are well above the customer account numbers.
  • Searching by street number will now bring up all customers (including old or cancelled customers) with that same street address. If more than one customer is displayed then select the customer from the list that you wish to go to. Previously only the customer with the lowest account number came up and this was quite often a cancelled account. NOTE – that if your search did bring up more than one customer you will need to click the button with the red cross over the binoculars to restore normal search functions again. See page 36 of the user manual for a description of the search buttons. The current user manual is available at http://web.mrnews.com.au/support/user-guide/
  • Credit card report now shows your merchant ID on each page and the spacing between the credit card number and the expiry date has been increased.
  • You can now send individual customer invoices via email from the customers invoice screen. You will see an extra icon  to the right of the print button (see picture below). Pressing the email icon next to the print button will send an email copy of the selected invoice. From the invoice screen you can now alter, view, print or email an individual customers invoice. NOTE – only ever make alterations to the last run customer invoice.
  • You can now scroll through all of a customers invoices from the customers invoice screen. A new view button has been added next to the “Inv/Stat” header (see picture above). Pressing this view will bring up all the customers invoices. NOTE – If you press the print button in this view it will print ALL invoices. If you require to print one or print a selection of invoices then bring up the print box by using the keyboard shortcut of “Ctrl + P”.
  • Your bank details will appear on home customer email accounts.

New Items – Reports

  • Sales Report – The sales report window now stays active so you can view a number of reports with out having to close and re-open the report.

New items - Sub-agent deliveries run sheet

  • The Sub-agent run sheet now shows a total of home customer rolls and also the rolls required for each individual run group. Previously only a total rolls figure was produced. The bulk size and first drop supply figures for the West need to be put in to activate rolling numbers.

New items - Run book

  • The “street crossings” instruction field now has the option of text or an image (gif file) the same as the publications field.
  • Ability to change the font of the run book display. In the run book parameters add parameter “FontFamily”. You can then put in any standard windows fonts to select a different font style for the run book display. Unfortunately from my testing this facility does not appear to be an option if you are using a Sony PSP display.

Unzipping MrNews

Most of you would possibly be aware of this but for those that don’t there is no need to have WinZip on your computer if you are running WindowsXP or Vista. The update can be unzipped using a program that is a part of Windows and is quite simple to use.  Please email me and I will send out some instructions if you are not sure on how to do it.
